We are ALL musical, Jane. Some are just more so than others. With the dulcimer it's just a matter of "re-wiring" the brain and that takes time and practice.

Hi Bruce,
Wow! the dulcimer. Good for you. It sounds like fun. I'm so not musical, but I've been toying with the idea of taking voice lessons. We'll see.
Time to look at your other blog entries.
You go guy!

You're welcome, Helena and thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts. I'm beginning to find that when you think the grief is over, it's not. I feel very fortunate to have been able to find the world of music in the midst of everything that has been going on in my life. When I listened to Heidi Muller talk about the dulcimer, to the person sitting in front of me at a Woody Hawley concert, somehow I knew that it was meant for me to hear....divine intervention for sure! Since then, Sheila McEntee has introduced me to drumming, too, which I equally love. And I do believe that my pain is an opportunity for growth....hopefully we never stop growing. In addition, it gives me an even greater appreciation of the beauty we find in family, friends and life. I thank you and the dulcimer group for your patience with my fumblings with the dulcimer as well as welcoming me into the group and helping me to be the best I can be.

Thank you, Bev. When I first began photography, it was my desire to capture the moment and be able to write about it as well as display it. I'm working towards that goal, using this blog as a stepping stone. I hope that "hope Rising" can be of help to all who are feeling the pain of loss of a loved one.

Nobody truly understands the pain until they've been through it, Bill, but you are right about true stength coming from within and above. I'll take it from wherever it. I do know that when I'm in nature, I'm at my greatest peace...at times feeling one with everything. Thank you, too, for your kind words. You're pretty special too, and I can't wait to shoot with you again.

Bruce,
Thank you for sharing your on-going journey in such an eloquent way. Grief work is hard, hard, hard. Because you are open to the beauty, power and wonder of the natural world, you were able to feel your wife communicating with you. It seems that you have come very far in your journey. I believe that it is through the painful events in our life that we can continue to grow and become if we choose to. Glad that you chose to and that you are part of our little dulcimer group and that it brings you happiness.

Bruce,

This is a beautiful essay, one worth publishing beyond your blog. "Hope Rising" provokes thought, and your words provide comfort. Please continue to write, perhaps about each of your photo art pieces. Maybe, just maybe, there's a book waiting for you to assemble with images - and - words.

Beautiful photo and an even more beautiful "sharing of your thoughts." I cannot begin to comprehend what a difficult time you have been going through over recent time. I have not known you for long, but long enough to know you are a special person. You will make it and nature will play its key role in helping you along, but your true strength comes from within and above. Take care, My Friend.
