about the photographer
Learning.
I could stop right there, but then you still wouldn't know much about me. Usually this is the place where a photographer shares his insights, philosophies and what they are all about in the world of photography. I don't know where I am in that regard as I'm still in the early stages of learning. Learning not only about photography, but also what photography means to me.
I am a CPA by education, but all my life, I've searched for a creative outlet. I've searched through writing, through music (know just enough about classical guitar to be dangerous), through crafts. I even made a very feeble attempt through painting. All these "experiments" were somewhat satisfying, but I was always left with that longing for more....that search for the one thing that would fill the creative void that I felt within me. I have found that in photography.
You might say that my photographic "career" began as a combat photojournalist (not my real job over there)in Viet Nam in 1968. That's the earliest I can remember having a camera in my hands for anything other than snapshots. Unfortunately, my camera was stolen after only two weeks and I didn't pursue it any further. I come across some of those photos once-in-awhile and still wonder why I didn't continue, well, I guess not having a camera might have had something to do with it. I guess I wasn't ready.
Being able to "see" will always be my main goal. To be able to see what most people don't take the time to see; then to capture that moment in time and share it with you, hoping that the next time, you will be able to look beyond what you first perceive.
