An incredible October 2004 morning on Spruce Knob Lake, Spruce Knob Mountain, WV. The sun had just risen and there was still a foggy backdrop.
What really caught my eye was the mixture of colors as well as the shapes and lines of the trees as the sun provided dramatic backlighting.
Bosque del Apache, Socorro, NM is spanish for "woods of the Apache". I went there to try my hand at wild bird photography as Bosque is one of the largest wild bird reserves in North America.
Nothing prepared me for the beauty of the landscape. I'm reminded to never have preconceived notions when going out to photograph. Had I only photographing birds in mind, this beautiful December morning, I would have missed the beauty that is Bosque del Apache.
I had gone to the Burdette Farm, Kenna, WV, on this rainy evening to photograph the beautiful tiger lilies that were in full bloom.
By the time I arrived, the rain had stopped and the sun was peaking through the clouds, lighting up the beautiful day lilies that were also in full bloom.

I was on the Flight Deck on this brisk, cloudy December morning. The birds had taken flight and most of the people had departed. My eyes, always searching for more, found this beautiful image in the waters that, just moments before, was blanketed with birds.
